I first heard this song at the end of the final episode of 'Six Feet Under' as Claire drives away and the ends of all the charater's lives are shown. I still get emotional when I hear it.I interpret the song to be by an addict. Knowing rationally that what she is doing is harming herself, but she can't help it. And even though she acknowledges that she's caused her problems herself, she's asking for help and comfort and friendship.
It's a plea for understanding and compassion. Very moving.Help, I have done it againI have been here many times beforeHurt myself again todayAnd, the worst part is there's no-one else to blameBe my friendHold me, wrap me upUnfold meI am smallI'm needyWarm me upAnd breathe meOuch I have lost myself againLost myself and I am nowhere to be found,Yeah I think that I might breakI've lost myself again and I feel unsafeBe my friendHold me, wrap me upUnfold meI am smallI'm needyWarm me upAnd breathe meBe my friendHold me, wrap me upUnfold meI am smallI'm needyWarm me upAnd breathe me. Its about self harm pretty much. Speaking from personal experience its really hard to tell someone that you love that its out of your control, and that you aren't going to stop, but its a lot easier than telling them that you will stop but then you break your promise, and when they find out you can she the worry and disappointment in their eyes. She is saying that she has hurt herself again. She cant blame anybody else except herself, and it hurts to know that hurting yourself is the one thing that makes you the happiest. But she wants someone to comfort her, and love her for who she is, and tell her that they love her whether she does that or not.
And that's part of getting better, at least for me it was, and you feel excepted when someone loves you for you, and that's exactly what she needs. I feel the pain she's going through she's talking about self harm in my opinion 'help I have some it again' meaning she's cut herself again. She just wants someone to be their and how she feels empty and numb and I understand her I suffer from self harm and severe anxiety also starving my self to be skinny! She wants someone to just wrap her up maybe from her self harm scars? Or just wants to be wrapped up in a blanket and feel human interaction probably due to neglect and also blocking the world out! She just wants a friend to be there and comfort her!
I get somedays you just wanna cut a little deeper and just end it but someone loves you! And your no alone! This is about a person who shoots up drugs(heroin) and the 'wrap me up' is the arm being wrapped up to find her veins, then 'unfold me' is after injecting herself they unfold the arm tie, the 'i am small' is the tiny hole the needle makes, which represented by the 'I AM NEEDY' lyrics needy= needle, and warm me up and breathe me is the other form of the drug you can also free base as she breathes it 'OUCH' is the actual act of the needle coming into contact with the skin.
And 'be my friend', is what the drug becomes to that person and is the only friend that person has while going through the destructive lifestyle. The drug makes her pain go away.for now.

Songstress Sia showcases her sultry flair to a receptive crowd at NYC's Bowery Ballroom and slips in a buoyant new studio track on this short LP. The Aussie talent performs a few standouts from 2006's sweet and seductive groover, Colour the Small One, and also digs into her vault of works with downtempo gurus Zero 7. Backed by subtle strings and even subtler percussion, her multi-octave range takes the limelight it deserves, most notably on 'Breathe Me.' You'll want to break out the hugs after hearing her soulful drawl strain with passion to sing, 'I am small and needy, warm me up.'
